Fellow
Residents,
Thank you to all of you who gave your time, effort,
support in my quest to become mayor. For four of the last six years I
have been an alderman and I’ve never been in politics for myself. Every
decision that I have made, I know in my heart, that I have always had
the best interest of the people in mind.
It’s with that thought that I make another decision that
I believe is in the best interest of the people. We cannot afford four
more years of our current administration. The stakes are just too
high. With three candidates, the race has just become too close to
ensure a positive outcome. So, after a great deal of thought, I believe
it is in the best interest of the people that I withdraw as a candidate
for mayor. I ask all my supporters to join me in my enthusiastic
support for another man that I feel will be an excellent choice and a
man that I can continue to work with in my current position as alderman
to make Waterloo the best place that it can possibly be. That’s why I
am officially announcing that I am withdrawing from seeking the office
of mayor and giving my full support to Tom Smith.
I again urge you to make the best choice for
Waterloo and vote for Tom Smith as your mayor April 17th.
Sincerely,
Jim Nagel
